Propane cylinders are a convenient and practical option for powering your grill, firepit, or other outdoor devices. But it’s important to follow proper safety measures for storing, handling, and using them.
To ensure safety, avoid storing propane cylinders indoors or in enclosed areas like garages, sheds, carports, or sunporches. Instead, store them on a dry outdoor sheltered area, elevated from the ground to prevent rust formation. Keep them away from any flames or ignition sources, including the grill. Remember not to place them on the ground to prevent rust formation.
To prevent grill fires, it’s important to clean your propane grill and regularly empty its grease trap. This is especially important because excess grease is a common cause of grill fires.
Hiper Gas partners with many retail establishments, including grocery stores, gas stations, convenience stores, and home and garden stores in the Greater El Paso area, to provide propane grill tank refill and exchange services.
When you need a full tank, make sure to follow these steps for a safe and easy process.
Remove the grill tank from the grill. To disconnect the propane tank from your grill, follow these steps: First, turn off the grill and close the valve on the tank. Next, rotate the pressure regulator counterclockwise using the “Lefty loosy, righty tighty” rule to unscrew it. If your grill has a restraining bolt, make sure to loosen it before trying to remove the cylinder. Then, take the cylinder out of the storage compartment.
Make your grill tank exchange. Make sure to transport the grill tank in an upright and secure position. Even if you believe the tank is empty, there could still be liquid propane inside that could leak if it is tilted on its side. For safety purposes, please leave the empty cylinder you plan to exchange or refill outside the store near the refill station or storage cages where the full cylinders are kept. It is advised that you make the grill tank refill or exchange your last stop before returning home.
Please do not bring the empty cylinder inside the store. Leave it by the tank storage cage or refill station. Once you have done that, please proceed to the customer service department to ask for a grill tank exchange or refill. Once the purchase is processed at the counter, the clerk will take you to the storage cage or refill station, where the exchange or refill will take place. After that, you will have a full grill tank and can head home.
Install your new grill tank. Once you’re at home, you can easily connect your new tank to the grill. Begin by putting the cylinder into the storage compartment and using the restraining bolt to secure it, if available. Next, attach the pressure regulator to the cylinder valve and turn it fully to the right to tighten it. Finally, perform a leak test by following these steps:
